Welcome to the Withcott State School Website. I would like to extend a special welcome to those who are new to our school and the community.
Withcott State School embodies a distinct culture that is characterised by our vision; to create a community of learners who take pride in their school and themselves by being respectful, responsible and resilient. The vision is enacted through the school motto; real learning through real experiences.
Our students engage in a schooling experience that promotes high expectations for achievement and behaviour and our range of sport, music and environmental programs ensure opportunities for all-round development. A focus on explicit teaching in the classroom is enhanced by a full extra-curricular program.
Our success can be attributed to a number of factors:
The school has an enrolment of about 265, which is large enough to allow the children to form different friendship groups and to participate successfully in teams, e.g., sports, bands, and choirs.
At the same time, the school is small enough for all of the staff and children to know each other, and for the children to receive individual attention.
There have only been five Principals in the 39 years since the school opened, and the teachers, teacher aides and ancillary staff are experienced and committed to the school in the long term. This contributes significantly to the continuity of programs and the on-going development of the school.
Withcott State School portrays a rural-school tone with a positive “family” atmosphere where supportive relationships between students, staff and parents/caregivers are evident. Our families are very supportive of their children and contribute a great deal to the day-to-day activity of the school. Children enjoy their learning in an attractive setting with first class facilities.
