Extra-curricular activities are those that students may engage in outside the mandated Learning Areas. At Withcott State School these include:
Years 3 to 6 Choir: Choir may participate in the Toowoomba Eisteddfod, and on occasion, at school and community events and school assemblies.
Years 4 to 6 Instrumental Music lessons: Brass, woodwind and percussion lessons are offered. Students may be invited to be part of the school concert band when they have reached an appropriate level of proficiency. The concert band plays periodically at our school assembly and other school events.
The Instrumental Music Programme is provided through a Student Resource Scheme (SRS) which contributes to covering expenses associated with Instrumental Music, sheet music, photocopying, and equipment/instrument maintenance, along with instrument hire if required.
Instrumental Music Levy - $50.00
School Instrument Hire Levy - $80.00 (additional to the Music Levy if hiring an instrument)
Environmental Management Program: This group meets each week to carry out environmental sustainability projects around the school.
Chess group: This group is based in the library and caters for beginners through to advanced players. Students may participate in individual and team competitions throughout the year.
Lockyer Zone sports carnivals and sport trials: Eligible students are able to participate in trials in a variety of sports including athletics and cross-country.
